1. China’s mobile phone board market continues to grow strongly
The Chinese mobile phone board market has developed rapidly in recent years, both in terms of market demand and production market, under the trend of major global mobile phone manufacturers deploying in mainland China.
China’s mobile phone market has become a huge market system and the most important development area of the global mobile phone industry when the number of users exceeds 400 million, and the penetration rate will increase from 25.9% in 2004 to 30% in 2005. It is estimated that during 2006-2007, shipments will account for more than 40% of global production.
Under the trend of light, thin, short, and multi-functional, the demand for high-end HDI boards for mobile phones has increased. In 2005, the global mobile phone hard board market increased by 15.1% with the mobile phone market demand. The proportion of multi-layer flex PCB boards used in high-end mobile phones has increased, the flex boards used in turning mechanisms are gradually lowered, and the design of low-end mobile phones has reduced the amount of flex boards.
China’s mobile phone board market is attracted by factors such as the vast domestic demand market and the reduction of production costs, and international manufacturers have moved their production bases to the mainland.
In the mobile phone board industry, suppliers must have considerable production capacity, so that international manufacturers may continue to place orders, otherwise, once a hot-buy model appears, it will be caught off guard. At present, the main suppliers of mobile phone boards in the world are mostly concentrated in Asia, especially China. Including Japanese companies Ibiden, Panasonic, CMK, NOK and SONY Chemical, Taiwanese companies Huatong, Xinxing, Yaohua, Nanzidian and Jialianyi, etc., and Korean companies Samsung E-M, LG, etc.
Attracted by market demand, first-tier mobile phone board manufacturers including Taiwan, Japan, and the United States have all set up factories. In recent years, they have continued to expand the production capacity of HDI mobile phone boards and flexible boards for mobile phones in Chinese factories, and even upgraded the level of product technology.
2. China’s automotive electronics market is developing rapidly
The development of China’s auto industry provides an application market for auto electronic products, and the Chinese auto electronic product market and the auto industry also maintain a trend of rapid growth. In 2005, the market size of China’s automotive electronic products reached 62.43 billion yuan, compared with 2004, the market increased by 36.3%.
According to the forecast and data of market research agency Strategy Analytics, the automotive electronics market will grow from US$13.9 billion in 2003 to US$21.5 billion in 2008, with an average growth rate of 9.2%. The compound growth rate will become 7.4%. The Asian market, especially the growth of Chinese automobiles, is expected to bring more room for growth. All relevant manufacturers in the industry are gearing up for this market pie.
Automotive circuit boards include four categories hard boards, flexible boards, ceramic substrates, and metal substrates. In recent years, the global automotive shipments have maintained a growth rate of about 4% to 5%, driving the stable growth of the automotive board market. Coupled with the rapid development of automotive electronics, there is a demand increasing for high-end multilayer boards, HDI boards or ceramic substrates. The global demand for automotive sheets is thriving. In the global auto market, the Chinese market can be described as a star place and is the focus of attention. Compared with the global growth rate, China has maintained a growth rate of about 15% to 20% in recent years.
Manufacturers that produce more automotive boards in China include Huiya, Ruisheng Electronics, Eleanor, Zhanhua, Meirui Circuit, Hushidian, Meiko, etc. At present, the revenue of major manufacturers’ automotive boards is stable, and there is a trend of continuous growth. Since 2005, with the rapid development of automotive electronics, orders have been overwhelmed, and major automotive board manufacturers have expanded production, and at the same time have increased research and development efforts to seize the emerging highland of China’s automotive electronics.
